WORCESTER - Jack Flanagan never boarded the team bus at Methacton for the return trip home Thursday night.

The Pope John Paul II coach collapsed in the locker room following the Golden Panthers’ 43-42 loss to the Warriors in a showdown of PAC-10 divisional leaders, who both entered the affair with unblemished league slates.

Flanagan regained consciousness after the fall, but left the building on a gurney and was whisked off to a waiting ambulance after being attended to by EMT personnel. It was unknown where Flanagan was taken for further medical observation, and his condition was unknown early Friday morning.

The incident ended an extremely stressful day for Flanagan, who arrived at the gym just minutes before tipoff following a PIAA hearing that denied PJP senior transfer Jontil Swift’s eligibility application.

Flanagan's day got even worse with the narrow loss and ensuing medical issue.
