Boys lax: Perkiomen Valley, Boyertown fall in season openers

Conestoga 11, Perkiomen Valley 3 – The Vikings were doomed by turnovers as the host Pioneers capitalized on five giveaways in the middle of the field for goals in recording the nonleague, season-opening win Friday.
Rob Farrington finished with 11 saves and Matt Brock, Nick Steele and Sam Nice notched goals for Perk Valley, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Conestoga’s dominance of the face-off circle and the combined 9 goals and 3 assists registered by Will Schnorr, Will Bryan and Brendan Murphy.

Bishop Shanahan 15, Boyertown 2 – The Bears allowed 14 unanswered goals out of the gate as the defending state champion Eagles took no prisoners in the nonleague season opener for both teams.
Michael Federico and Kobi Bui had goals for Boyertown, which got seven saves from goalie Robert Wood. Gabe Goforth notched six goals while Kyle Gucwa and Bryan Rafferty combined for five goals and three assists for Shanahan.
