Cross country: Perkiomen Valley's Clifford, Owen J. Roberts' Zubey shine at PIAA Foundation meet

HERSHEY  - Perkiomen Valley’s Tyler Clifford and Claire Zubey of Owen J. Roberts set the pace for the PAC runners at Saturday’s PIAA Foundational Invitational at Hershey’s Parkview’s 5K Course.

Clfford placed fifth in the Boys Gold race in 16:40 help the help the Vikings secure fourth place in the team standings. Competing in the Girls Gold event, Zubey finished eighth in 19:30.

Other top finishers in the Boys Gold race included Owen J. Roberts’ Thomas Damiani (28th) and Andrew McGonigle (29th), helping the Wildcats place third in the team standings; Spring-Ford’s Anthony Bamford (47th), Methacton’s Jack Kapralick (74th) and Boyertown’s Eric Muthersbaugh (125th). In the Boys Blue Race, Brandon Henriksen of Pottsgrove was 42nd and Pope John Paul II’s Jason DiMarco was 75th.

In the Girls Gold competition, Perkiomen Valley took fourth behind Summer Watts (14th) and Delaney O’Sullivan (18th). Other top finishers included Naomi Hillen (Pottsgrove, 43rd), Madeline Ziegler (Methacton, 61st), Nora Albertson (Spring-Ford, 73rd), Kerri Mochnally (Phoenixville, 92nd) and Morgan Janiuk (Boyertown, 125th). Pope John Paul II’s Gianna Cagliola led with way in the Girls Blue Race with a 20th-place finish.
