District playbacks: Norristown silences Strechay, Perkiomen Valley; Methacton falls

(5) Norristown 41, (8) Perkiomen Valley 36 – Mickeel Allen and Xavier Edwards collected 11 points each as the Eagles rode a shutdown defensive effort to victory in District 1-6A. 5-8 playbacks Tuesday night.
Norristown held the PAC’s leading scorer, Tyler Strechay, to just four points -15-plus below his season average - and took control with a 22-8, defense-fueled edge in the middle periods after trailing 16-13 in the first quarter.
Zach Krause knocked down four triples to finish with 12 points and AJ Hansen added 6 for the Vikings (20-8), whose offensive woes hit rock bottom in the third quarter during a 12-2 Norristown run.
In a rematch of the PAC championship game - a 67-43 Methacton romp - Perkiomen Valley will play at neighborhood rival Methacton Friday night (7 pm) for seventh place in the district and state playoff seeding.
The Eagles (20-6) will host (6) Chester for fifth-place and state playoff seeding Friday night. The Clippers came from behind to drop Methacton 73-59.

(6) Chester 73, (7) Methacton 59 – The two-time PAC champion Warriors led 32-30 at intermission of their District 1-6A, 5-8 playback clash, but the perennial state powerhouse Clippers staged a 21-6 blitz in the third quarter to take control.
Erik Timko dropped four triples en route to a team-high 20 points for Methacton (21-7), which hosts neighborhood rival Perkiomen Valley Friday night (7 pm) for seventh place in the District 1 tournament and state playoff seeding.
Also hitting double figures for Methacton were Jeff Woodward with 15 points and David Duda with 10. Duda has two triples to run his season total to 82, breaking the program record of 80 he set last season.
