Field hockey: 13 from PAC, including 4 from champion Upper Perkiomen, named all-state

Pioneer Athletic Conference two-time champion Upper Perkiomen placed four players on the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association All-State Class AA teams, it was announced Wednesday.

Earning berths on the first team for the Indians were junior goalie Lynnsi Joyce and senior forward Bella Carpenter (Kent State recruit), while junior defender Luci Carpenter was a second team selection. Junior midfielder Takoda Wells rounded out the UP honorees with honorable mention distinction.

In Class 3A, the PAC had 13 representatives, including first-team PHSFHCA choices Raina Smolij of Owen J. Roberts and Methacton senior midfielder Alexa Kratz. Smolij, a senior midfielder, is headed to Villanova University and Kratz is committed to American University.

Also, Perkiomen Valley seniors Cristina Dougherty (forward) and Saige Shine (midfielder) and Methacton senior defender Elise DeWan earned berths on the all-state second team at the Class 3A level, while honorable mention selections from the PAC included Methacton senior defender Kristen Riddell, Spring-Ford junior midfielder Alexa Collins, PV junior defender Julia Downing and Owen J. Roberts junior midfielder Rylee Laloup.
