Field hockey: PAC powers Upper Perkiomen, Methacton battle to 1-1 tie; Boyertown, Owen J. Roberts post wins

Methacton 1, Upper Perkiomen 1 – The two PAC field hockey titans, who both entered the early season showdown Monday at 2-0, battled to a tie in a defensive struggle that had no scoring after the opening half.
Sarah Steinman gave the host Indians the early lead with a goal at the 7:43 mark of the first half, but that advantage lasted just 29 seconds, erased when the Warriors’ Jess Serafin found the back of the cage with 7:14 left before the break.
The rest of the afternoon belonged to the defenses, both anchored by stellar goalie play that featured 14 saves by Upper Perk’s Lynnsi Joyce and 9 stops by Methacton’s Gabby DiPrinzio. Bella Carpenter chipped in with a defensive save for the Tribe.

Boyertown 4, Perkiomen Valley 3 – Alyx Morgan delivered a pair of goals and Nina Caprio, Kelsi McDevitt, Jaz Fink and Mary Catherine Maloney supplied the defense for the Bears in their PAC conquest of the Vikings.
Katelyn Dulin added a goal and assist and Lauren Eves also posted a goal for Boyertown, which opened up a 3-1 lead by halftime and held on down the stretch.

Owen J. Roberts 4, Pottsgrove 0 – Rylee Laloup cashed a pair of goals and the slow-starting Wildcats got it going after the break with four unanswered strikes en route to the PAC win.
Payton Hansen and Raina Smolij also found the back of the cage for OJR. For the Falcons, Makenzie Johnson registered 18 saves and Katie Bean had the lone goal..
