Field hockey: Upper Perkiomen, Methacton fit to be tied; Dougherty lifts Perkiomen Valley in OT

Upper Perkiomen 2, Methacton 2, OT – Bella Carpenter scored with 1:47 left in regulation and goalie Lynssi Joyce racked up 17 saves to help the defending PAC champion Indians secure a tie Wednesday and maintain their narrow first-place league lead.
Upper Perk, which also battled to a 1-1 standoff with the Warriors on Oct. 5, is now 7-0-2 with three games left in the regular season. Methacton remains just one-half game back at 5-1-2 with four left. With no league playoffs scheduled in this pandemic-shortened season, the regular season will determine the PAC champion.
The Indians drew first blood when Kylene Gooch scored off a Margo May assist with 14:28 left in first quarter before the Warriors drew even on Elise DeWan’s strike, assisted by Jess Serafin, 38 seconds before the break.
After Madison Noh momentarily provided a 2-1 advantage for Methacton with 3:04 left in regulation, Carpenter tied things up for good off a helper from Takoda Wells.

Perkiomen Valley 2, Boyertown 1, OT – Christina Dougherty deposited a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 12:52 left in overtime, to boost the Vikings past the Bears in PAC action.
The decisive strike completed a comeback for PV, which trailed 1-0 when Katelyn Dulin scored off a Lauren Eves assist with 8:39 remaining in the third quarter for the Bears. Dougherty then forced the extra session with her first goal off a Lauren Keyte assist on a penalty corner at the 13:04 mark of the final frame before settling the score in OT.
Both goalies were strong, Boyertown’s Sarah Yoder had 10 saves and PV keeper Ashley Derrick finished with 6 stops. Kelsi McDevitt and Mary Catherine Maloney also had strong showings on defense for the Bears.

Owen J. Roberts 5, Pottsgrove 0 – Rylee Laloup keyed a balanced attack with two goals and one assist to lead the Wildcats past the Falcons. Other OJR goals were scored by Ava Clemson, Lilly Gariti and Emily Himmelreich with Payton Hansen and Raina Smolij adding assists.
For the Grove, which was outshot 22-2 and lost the corner battle 18-1, goalie Makenzie Johnson continued to be a force with 17 saves.
