Girls hoops: Bustynowicz posts double-double in season-ending district loss for Pope John Paul II

(2) New Hope Solebury 39, (3) Pope John Paul II 35 – Kallan Bustynowicz posted a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks but it wasn’t enough as the Golden Panthers suffered the season-ending loss Tuesday night in the semifinal round of the District 1-4A playoffs.
PJP, which finishes its season at 10-7, was doomed by a poor finish, held to just four points in the fourth quarter after entering the frame with a narrow 31-30 lead.
Along with Bustynowicz, Amelia Kennedy (10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals), Tess Crossan (8 assists, 7 points) and Lainey Owens (5 steals) delivered strong performances for the Golden Panthers.
Reagan Chrencik scored 12 points to pace a balanced attack for New Hope, which got 7 three-balls from six different players to advance to the district final Friday against top-seeded Gwynedd Mercy.
