Girls hoops: Owen J. Roberts stays alive in district playbacks as LeClaire rises to the top

(14) Owen J. Roberts 52, (6) Ridley 49, OT – The Wildcats kept their season alive in dramatic fashion Saturday night, overcoming a fourth-quarter meltdown to prevail in overtime in District 1-6A playbacks.

Olivia LeClaire finished with a game-high 16 points and became the all-time leading scorer in program history with 1195 career points, Avery White canned 11 points and Hannah Clay chipped in with 9 for OJR.

The victory sets up a showdown Wednesday night at (7) Garnet Valley - a 44-29 victor over (15) Neshaminy. The winner of that contest locks up a PIAA playoff berth while the loser gets another shot in playbacks to reach states.

OJR held a 33-22 entering the fourth quarter, but the Raiders came alive and posted a 24-13 advantage to force the extra session. Dakota McCaughan canned 12 of her 15 points in the frame to trigger the revival.

 

In the OT, Hannah Clay knocked down her third trifecta, Maddi Koury hit two free throws and  LeClaire added another from the stripe to seal the deal for the Cats.

.In addition to McCaughan for Ridley, Shannen Hinchey also netted 15 points.
