Girls hoops: Timko, Smith carry Methacton past Pottstown

Methacton 75, Pottstown 32 – Nicole Timko contributed 20 points, 4 steals and 4 assists and Mairi Smith posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Warriors evened their record at 1-1 with the nonleague PAC crossover win Saturday.
Methacton raced out to leads of 28-12 after one quarter and 47-18 at the break and were never seriously challenged with 13 of its 15 players getting into the scoring column. Other key contributors for the winners were Kayla Kaufman (10 rebounds, 9 points), who fell one point short of a double-double, Allie Hazlett (7 points, 8 rebounds) and Cassidy Kropp (6 points).
For the Trojans, coming off a season-opening 59-48 PAC Frontier win over Upper Perkiomen Friday, Tamya Jarrett cashed 12 points and Calista Dye chipped in with 9.
