Girls soccer: Methacton's Smith earns 150th career win behind Mazzucola

Methacton 2, Pottsgrove 0 – Madia Mazzucola had a hand in both goals as the Warriors helped veteran  head coach Bret Smith reach a career milestone with his 150th career victory in the PAC shutout of the visiting Falcons Tuesday.
Mazzucola opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a well-placed shot just under the crossbar after receiving a Ruby Murray cross. Then in the 66th minute, Mazzucola assisted on Julia McCann’s insurance goal, a left-footed blast from just inside the 18.
Methacton improved to 1-1-1 with its first win of the season, outshooting the Falcons 12-3 and getting the clean sheet from keeper Mairi Smith (3 saves).

Spring-Ford 1, Upper Perkiomen 0 – Reese Kershner scored on a rebound of a free kick in the 15th minute and that proved to be the difference as the Rams knocked the host Indians from the ranks of the unbeaten in PAC action.
Stealing the show in a losing effort was UP goalie Gabby Neal, who finished with 13 saves to keep the Indians (3-1) within striking distance despite a 14-2 disadvantage in shots. Spring-Ford keeper Riley Wallace needed just two saves to register her second clean sheet of the season.
