Girls volleyball: Boyertown, Pope John Paul II, Perkiomen Valley sweep

Boyertown 3, Phoenixville 0 Adrianna Derstine (7 kills, 2 digs), Emma Smith (6 digs, 1 ace), Cassie Hager (8 assists) and Mya Hummel (7 aces, 7 digs) helped set the tone for the Bears, who won the PAC match in straight sets – 25-10, 25-12, and 25-8 - Tuesday.

Pope John Paul II 3, Norristown 0 – The Golden Panthers stayed perfect on the young season by blanking the Eagles in straight sets – 25-8, 25-7, 25-9 – behind Hutton Cordrey (7 kills, 4 digs, block), Juliann Raftery (10 assists, 5 digs), Cathleen McKendry (4 kills, 4 aces, 3 digs), Madison Monahan (11 assists, 4 digs), Natalie Ricevuto (7 aces, 6 digs, 3 kills) and Bella Honick (8 aces, 5 digs).

Perkiomen Valley 3, Pottsgrove 0 – Naomi Clauhs (15 assists, 7 digs, 6 kills, 2 aces), Veronika Paciorek (9 kills, 2 blocks), Natalie Min (8 digs, 3 aces), Lilah Maus (6 kills, 2 aces) and Sam Corey (7 kills) led the way for the Vikings in their three-set sweep by counts of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-18.

Strath Haven 3, Upper Merion 1 – The Vikings dropped the nonleague encounter in four sets – 25-19, 27-25, 19-25, 27-25) - for their first loss of the season despite strong showings from Sophia Schweikert (21 kills, 17 digs), Vanessa Hutchinson (27 digs), Julia Giammarco (career-high 13 kills), Caitlyn Daywalt (31 assists), Sydney Bright (11 service points) and Raven Albrecht (5 aces).
