The week that was: Erini Pappas, a versatile junior in her third year of varsity swimming, came away from the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship meet Friday at Perkiomen Valley adorned in gold.

Pappas opened by swimming the first leg in the victorious 200 medley relay (1:50.08) – setting the table with a split of 27.19 (butterfly) for Sarah McCarthy, sister Penelope Pappas and Sarah Ritter.

Erini then touched first in the 200 individual medley (2:07.48) and 100 butterfly (56.77) individually before completing her dazzling performance with a third-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:42.49), swimming the anchor leg behind Ritter, sister Penelope and Katie Baker.

The treasure trove of PAC medals continues to grow for Erini, who has won nine gold medals in the league events in the medley relay, 200 IM and 100 fly over the last three years.

“This year’s medley relay win was particularly meaningful because Erini was joined by her sister, Penelope, for the first time,” said Phoenixville coach Dan Weinstein.

“The PAC championship is a very competitive meet, so to be so consistently dominant in such a talented league says a lot about her hard work and her competitive determination.”
