Mat wrap: Ryan Resnick hits 100 en route to King of the Mountain title; Pottsgrove has 3 champs at Colley Classic

MILL HALL - Owen J. Roberts senior Ryan Resnick ran the table in the 160-pound weight class at the King of the Mountain Tournament Saturday, locking up his 100th career win in the semifinal round before completing his tour de force with a 15-6 major decision of Chestnut Ridge’s Morgan Deremer in the championship match.

Resnick, who racked up a pin and technical fall in the earlier rounds of the prestigious invitational, becomes the 14th OJR wrestler to hit the coveted 100-career wins mark. Derek Gulotta(2015) is the program’s leader in career wins with 147.

Also for the Wildcats, who placed seventh in the 30-team field, Luke Resnick (120) and Cole Meredith (138) advanced to the medal round with consolation-round wins.

Boyertown came away from King of the Mountain with a fifth-place finish and three runner-up finishes – Matt Wilde (113), David Campbell (126) and Jakob Campbell (132). In the championship finals, Wilde fell 4-2 to Dalton Rohrbaugh (Spring-Ford), David Campbell was edged by Nick Coy (Penn Trafford) 3-0, and Jakob Campbell was topped 9-4 by Austin DeSanto (Exeter). Exeter won the team title at the King of the Mountain.

Colley Classic (West Chester East)

Pottsgrove had a strong showing in West Chester behind individual champions Chase Banyai (126), Ryan Finn (182) and Skylar McLeod (220). Also for the Falcons, Josh Cerrito was second at 120, Zach Van Horn took third at 195 and Robert Strawley finished fourth at 113. The host Vikings took the team title.

Flo X-Calibur (Wilkes University)

Mike Modugno placed second at 220 after falling to Shaler’s Ron Damico in the championship match to headline the Upper Perkiomen effort . Other top finishers for the Indians, who were 13th in the 28-school field, were fourth-place medalists Jared Kuhns (113) and Jake Folk (160).

Springfield (Montco) Duals

Chris Salvo (126), Nick Yerger (138) and Brendan Rau (220) were 5-0 on the day to help Pope John Paul II go 2-3 at Springfield-Montco. The Golden Panthers had wins over New Hope-Solebury (48-24) and Phil-Mont Christian (60-6) and losses to Glen Mills (48-30), the host Spartans (42-33) and Springside-Chestnut Hill (37-33).
