(8) Upper Dublin 47, (5) Methacton 45 – Nicole Timko connected for four three-balls and 18 points but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors suffered the loss in the playback phase of the District 1-6A Tournament Wednesday night.
Having already qualified for the PIAA playoffs, Methacton will now host (12) Central Bucks East Saturday afternoon (2:30 pm) for seventh place in the district.
The Warriors had erased a 23-20 halftime lead with an 18-13 edge in the third quarter to go up 38-36, but the Flying Cardinals answered with an 11-7 advantage in the final frame, making all the plays down the stretch to hand their hosts a second straight loss.
Down 44-41 with 2:30 left, Dayna Balasa hit a clutch trey to lock things up before a Kara Grebe layup off an assist from Jackie Vargas on the following possession gave Upper Dublin the lead for good.
Caroline Pellicano posted 9 points and 8 rebounds and Sydney Tornetta chipped in with 6 points and 9 rebounds to support the Methacton cause.
For Upper Dublin (19-8), which faces (10) North Penn for fifth place in the district Friday, Balasa had four treys and 18 points.
