PAC-10 wrap: Spring-ford suffers first loss in double OT; PV stays hot

BOYS BASKETBALL

It took two overtimes, but Spring-Ford finally suffered its first loss, falling to Malvern Prep 64-60 Saturday in the Mid-Atlantic Shootout at Coatesville.

The Rams (4-1 overall, 2-0 PAC-10 Liberty) got double-figures scoring from Andrew Scanlan (15 points), Josh Dishman (13), Zameer McDowell (11) and Steve Joyce (11) in the non-league loss.

Brendan Kilpatrick tossed in a game-high 22 points for Malvern Prep, which outscored the Rams 5-1 in the second overtime to snare the victory.

Perkiomen Valley 59, Central Bucks East 38 – A balanced scoring attack helped the Vikings improve to 4-1 overall (1-0 PAC-10 Liberty). Andrew Kenney (12 points), Ian Rykaczewski (12), Terrence Thinna (11) and Chris Stewart (9) led the way for PV.

Great Valley 65, Pottsgrove 39 – The Falcons slipped to 3-2 overall (2-0 PAC-10 Frontier) despite 13 points from Robert Stiles. Leading 28-19 at intermission, Great Valley blew the game open with a 37-20 second-half advantage.

Pottstown 62, Exeter 56 – Elijah Jackson deposited 22 points and Dawon Matthews chipped in with 20 to lead the Trojans to the non-league win. The victory improved Pottstown’s overall record to 2-2 (0-1 PAC-10 Frontier Division).

Boyertown 64, Daniel Boone 53 – The Bears placed four players in double figures to record the non-league victory. The Bears halted a two-game slide to improve to 3-2 overall (0-2 PAC-10 Liberty Division) behind the scoring of Tyler Moser (18 points), Dylan Pasik (14), Scott Dennin (14) and Trey Werley (11, 3 triples).

Downingtown East 56, Owen J. Roberts 41 – Mark Henry collected a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats slipped to 1-4 overall (0-1 PAC-10 Liberty) with the non-league loss. Ryan Megay added 10 points for OJR.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Boyertown 52, Daniel Boone 41 – Brooke Mullen’s career-high 18 points lifted the Bears to the non-league win. Kaitlyn Eisenhard cashed 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Jess Schlesman filled up the stat sheet with 9 points, 6 steals and 3 assists for Boyertown, which improved to 4-1 overall (1-1 PAC-10 Liberty).

Perkiomen Valley 53, West Chester Henderson 41 – Sam Pagel poured in 16 points and Tori Marcavage chipped in with 10 for the Vikings, who used a 15-6 third-quarter run to extend a narrow 23-21 halftime lead.

Pottstown 61, Exeter 40 – Leading 31-16 at halftime, the Trojans put it on cruise control with a 22-9 advantage in the third quarter. Leading the way for Pottstown (2-3 overall, 1-0 Frontier) were Alicia Rosenberger (21 points), Daesha Collins (10) and Sydney Sanford (10).

Bethlehem Liberty 42, Methacton 39 – The Warriors slipped to 1-4 overall (1-1 Liberty) when Liberty posted a 9-6 edge in overtime. Maddy Parker paced Methacton with 11 points.

Upper Merion 57, Owen J. Roberts 42 – Despite 17 points from Anna Janisch, the Wildcats fell to 1-4 overall (0-1 Liberty) with the non-league loss.

Perkiomen Valley 54, Pottstown 21 – The Vikings(2-0 overall) took their PAC-10 dual-meet opener behind falls from Luke DiElsi, Bobby Strickland, David Robinson, Tyrelle Robinson, Richie Tevlin, Gavin Milligan, Vaughn Gehman and Anthony DiElsi.

Rob McCoy, Zane Bechtel and Darien Hain recorded pins for Pottstown (0-2 overall, 0-2 PAC-10).
