PAC falls short at district doubles tournament

SPRINGFIELD - Spring-Ford’s Malchu Pascual and Adit Jain were the only PAC entries to make it out of the first round on the opening day of the District 1 boys tennis doubles tournament Friday at the Legacy Center.

Pascual-Jain, the runner-ups at last week’s PAC doubles championship, secured a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Quakertown’s Zach Pernia-Andrew Miller before falling in the second round to Wissahickon’s Andrew Tran-Vidat Makwana 6-2, 6-1.

The PAC’s doubles champions, Adam Zhang and Harsha Santhanam of Methacton, lost to Conestoga’s Jack Ginter-Stephen Le 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) while the Warriors’ other duo of Aaron Zhang and Krishna Pillutla went three sets with Neshaminy's Ben Dunn-Ethan Ackerman but were eliminated 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in other opening round action.

In the Class 2A competion, Pope John Paul II’ Tommy Rutkowski-J.T. Collins were eliminated by New Hope’s Caleb Burrows-Laslo Madarasz 6-1, 6-4. Lower Moreland’s Josh Arno-Mihir Ram later topped Burrows-Madarasz for the bracket championship 6-1, 6-3.
