PAC Final 6: Spring-Ford, Phoenixville reach semifinals (with expanded boxscores)

(3) Spring-Ford 48, (6) Upper Merion 46 – Tre Medearis poured in a game-high 24 points, including 10 during a tide-turning second period, as the Rams advanced to the semifinals of the PAC Final 6 Tournament with the narrow escape Wednesday night in Royersford.
Medearis added nine rebounds to his impressive stat line, helping Spring-Ford win its fourth straight to advance to Friday’s semi at Spring-Ford against Frontier Division champion and No. 2 seed Pope John Paul II, which drew a first-round bye.
Trailing 6-4 after a sluggish opening period, the Rams seized control with a 16-9 edge in the second quarter to go up 20-15 at the break before holding on down the stretch.
Collin Bowman hit two triples and finished with a team-high 12 points for the Vikings, who had beaten Spring-Ford 81-78 in overtime during a late-season surge to the league playoffs.
Nick Shepperd added 11 points and 8 rebounds for UM, which lost the battle on the glass 31-20 but kept things within reach by knocking down 7 of 16 (44 percent) three-pointers.
Spring-Ford also got 9 boards, 5 assists and 6 points from Pat Kovaleski, 7 points from Tyler Scilingo on a pair of triples and 6 points from Jake Kressley on perfect 3-for-3 shooting from the floor.
In the regular season matchup between the two semifinalists, Spring-Ford posted a narrow 50-47 win on Dec. 14.

(4) Phoenixville 45, (5) Boyertown 41 – The Phantoms earned the opening round win in the PAC Final 6 playoffs behind Steven Hamilton, who filled the stat sheet with 11 poingts, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Clay Kopko fell one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 9 boards as Phoenixville used an 11-2 advantage in the fourth quarter to overcome a 39-34 deficit.
Up next for the Phantoms in the semifinals Friday (7:45 pm) is Methacton, the defending league champion which drew a first-round bye after going unbeaten in the Liberty Division (10-0) and league overall (16-0) during the regular season.
For the Bears, Tre Diguglielmo canned 10 points, Griffin Hummel chipped in with 8 and Mason Marinello and Aarick Salata added 7 points each. Salata and Chris Kiefer shared team rebounding honors with 7 apiece.
Phoenixville, which got 8 points each from Mike Memmo and Chris Weiah, was drilled 64-20 by Methacton duing the regular season on Jan. 14.
