Penjuke, Timko shoot Methacton into Wildwood bracket final; Boyertown settles for second at home

Methacton 47, Shawnee (NJ) 35 – Abby Penjuke posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Warriors (8-1) advanced to the championship game of the John Carlson Memorial Bracket at the Wildwood (NJ) Basketball Classic with the decisive win Saturday night at the Wildwood Convention Center.
Leading by just 22-21 at the break, Methacton stretched its advantage to 39-31 before closing things out with an 9-4 edge in the fourth quarter.
Nicole Timko hit two treys for 14 points while Sydney Tornetta fell one board short of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds for Methacton, which faces tCouncil Rock North (56-30 winner over Rustin) for the bracket championship Sunday night (8:30 pm) at the Wildwood Convention Center.

Delone Catholic 48, Boyertown 36 – Mikayla Moyer collected 12 points and Avery Sweisfort chipped in with nine but it wasn’t enough as the Bears (3-6) came up empty in the championship game of the Boyertown Holiday Tournament.
Boyertown trailed by just 18-15 at the break, but the Squires (4-1) assumed control at 34-22 with a 16-7 surge in the third quarter. Hitting double figures for Delone Catholic were Brooke Lawyer with 15 points and Brandi Zumbrum with 11.

Pope John Paul II 48, Marple-Newtown 30 – Lauren Ciuba poured in 21 points and Elise Sylvester added 8 as the Golden Panthers went wire-to-wire for the victory over the hosts in the consolation game of the Marple-Newtown Holiday Tournament.
Ciuba, Sylvester and Kallen Bustynowicz were named to the all-tournament team for PJP, which set the tone with a 12-2 advantage in the first quarter before going up 25-14 and 39-24 in the following quarters.
