Weekend cross country wrap: OJR's Blatz, Kopec shine at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY - Owen J. Roberts senior Linus Blatz followed his City Championship individual crown with another gold medal performance Saturday, placing first in 16:54.95 at the prestigious 40th Annual Centaur Invitational at DeSales University.
Linus headlined a strong OJR performance that included David Brunton, Matt Muthler, Thomas Damiani and Quinten Sherwood placing in the top 15.
On the girls side at DeSales, OJR’s Hannah Kopec placed third in 20:37.96 with Calista Van Druff (ninth), Mikayla Niness (17th) and Makenzie Kurtz (18th) all finishing in the top 20.
Also at DeSales, Upper Perkiomen was led by Gabriel Pitcher (28th, boys) and Serena Detweiler (30th, girls) while setting the pace for Upper Merion were Veronica Sanchez (21st, girls) and John Matics (31st, boys).

PXTC Invitational
Boyertown’s Christian McComb set the pace for the locals at the Kutztown meet, covering the 5,000 meters in 15:58.50 to place fifth, while Spring-Ford’s John Zawislak took 44th. In the boys’ blue event, Pottstown’s Giankirk Kimmell led the way for the Trojans with an 82nd place effort.
In the girls blue race, Boyertown’s Zora Bergey was 17th (2:17.50) and Phoenixville’s Madison O’Neill took 48th. Spring-Ford’s girls ran in the girls gold race at Kutztown, with Emily Smith clocking in at 19th (19:57.50) and Rams teammate Ahila Moorthy taking 30th.

The Methacton boys ‘A’ team of Garret Campbell, Tommy Chimes, Garrett McPhillips and Matt Varghese took the boys portion of the relay competition at Belmont Park in Philadelphia. Pottsgrove’s ‘A’ team of Gabe Craig, Bryce Hampton, Brandon Henriksen and Simon Keen placed eighth while Methacton “B’ (Jack Kapralick, McMahon, Jake Peters, Sean Ritchie) was ninth.
On the girls side, Pottsgrove’s ‘A’ contingent of Calista Faust, Naomi Hillen, Molly Neeson and Chloe Sullivan was ninth.

Carly Ukalovic took fifth (20:25) and Rebecca Sobeck was 19th (22:13) to lead the Methacton girls, who also got top finishes from the following runners:
