Yoder, Pennridge shoot down Methacton in state quarterfinals

(1-4) Pennridge 50, (1-7) Methacton 47 – Navy recruit  Sean Yoder buried a step-back, three-pointer from the top of the circle with 2 seconds left to lift the Rams past the 2-time PAC champion Warriors in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class 6A playoffs Saturday afternoon at Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Yoder’s clutch shot ended a taut affair and brought the best season in Methacton boys basketball program history to an end at 24-8.
Jeff Woodward posted a double-double with 14 rebounds and 12 points, Eric Timko finished with 20 points and four treys and David Duda added 10 points for the Warriors, who were unable to hold a narrow 37-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Yoder collected 17 points, John Dominic added 15 with three treys and Jon Post chipped in with 13 for Pennridge, which faces La Salle in the state semifinals Tuesday at a time and site to be determined. La Salle bounced defending state champion Roman Catholic 55-47 Saturday to move on. The other 6A semifinal will pit District 1 runner-up Coatesville against District 10 champion Kennedy Catholic.
